New phrase: "To go Baldwin"

In our marvelous living English language, there is always some new word or phrase being coined, and today I nominate for inclusion in the lexicon, "to go Baldwin."

This, of course, is due to the widely publicized message Alec Baldwin left on his little daughter's cell phone, in which he goes off on a tirade, calls her names, insults her mother, etc. Hear it here. Sounds like he is dressing down some go-fer who forgot to put two sugars in his tea - classic Hollywood ass-ism on display.

So to join the terms "go postal" (which carries a more physically violent subtext) and "get agro," we now have "go Baldwin." Sample usage: "He got all up in my grill and started in to go all Baldwin on me."

Way to go, Alec, it takes a real man to stand up to an 11 year old girl like that. Don't let her push you around. (Stand by for the meaningless public apology - and perhaps it's rehab time?)

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Just think how good 30 Rock would be if Alec didn't have to stop everything on the set every morning at 11 a.m. to talk to his daughter. The man gives (at 11 a.m.) and gives (at 10 p.m.)and what does he get in return? He's even willing to fly from NY to spend an entire day with his daughter. Holy crap, move over Mr. Brady, I think we have a new Father of the Year.

Indians owned slaves? Did I sleep through that history lesson?

There's a story in the news about a vote in the Cherokee Nation to change their definition of citizenship, restricting it to descendants "by blood." The story goes on to say that this change will cut off the descendants of blacks whose ancestors were slaves to Cherokee owners. What? Wait a minute, what?? Indians owned slaves? The expression we've all heard is "you can't be too rich or too thin." I suppose that gets said a lot around the tennis court at the country club, the changing room at Sak's? I suppose it draws a wry smile every time. Or is it really said in the aisles at Target by people who are at no risk of being too much of either?
